GPU Rendering KeyShot Studio 2024.3

I recently upgraded to KeyShot Studio 2024.3 and I noticed a problem when trying to render using the Render output.

Before (on 2024.2), my GPU worked just fine. I could toggle the GPU button back and forth to switch between GPU/CPU rendering. Now the button is grayed out but it’s obviously using the GPU rendering. I can toggle it in the menu but the button isn’t responding.

When I goto the Render output window and Options specifically, I cannot toggle between CPU / GPU, it will only do a render output in the CPU setting.

Did they do a stealth requirement check on the Nvidia driver to make you have a more updated driver for 2024.3?

most likely. I get updated driver notifications about ever 2 months, and I usually let them happen, so I’m not sure if it would actually not work if I didn’t update. Odd that its seems to be using the GPU even if it said it isn’t. Can you have a look to see if the GPU is actually spooling up?

Yeah it definitely is spooling up.

I may try to reinstall in case something messed up with my old versions of KeyShot.

Thanks for your reply!

Hello Jeremy!
As Matt suggested, please verify that your drivers are above the minimum version stated in the manual here.

I’ve noticed the last few (Nov/Dec) Nvidia drivers are not really the nicest drivers. At least, I’ve had some weird things using them, not your problem though in Keyshot Studio.

What I always do when I install new drivers is a clean install, think that’s important. KeyShot Studio also creates this file: optix7cache.db

It’s in the Documents/KeyShot Studio folder, I think it’s compiled every time you use new drivers so you might try to rename that file. Next render will be slower since it creates the file again but maybe it works.

Another thing you can try is to go back to for example the October drivers of Nvidia.
